Pacode Town Panchayat coming under the administrative territory of Vilavancode Taluk, Kanyakumari District. This Town constituted in the year of 1954 as 1st Grade Town Panchayat. This Town Panchayat is coming under Municipal Act from the year 1996. In the year 2004 it was classified as Special Village Panchayat vide.G.O.No.270 Dated. 04.06.2004. again reclassified as town Panchayat on 14.7.2006 , vide G.O.No.55 dated 14.7.2006.
In this Town Panchayat Municipal act has been implemented and followed. Total area of Panchayat 14.17 Total 77.33 k.m of roads, total 1.5 km of Storm water drain.
This town Panchayat is situated just 2km away from Marthandam town. The river Thamirabarini passes in the southern part of this town Panchayat. This Panchayat is surrounded by Kuzhithurai Municipality and Unnamalaikadai town Panchayat on the south. Maruthancode village Panchayat on the west. Edaicode Town Panchayat on the North and the Vellancode Village Panchayat on the east. This city population is in 1991 Census 18050 as for 2001 Census 22781 present population is more than 30000 Total No. of Assessment 6438 Total No. wards 18.
This town has a fairly healthy climate. The maximum temperature normally occurs in the month of may while the minimum temperature in winter occurs in December.
APPOINTMENT COMITTEE
Appointment Committee is a statutory committee. The Chairman of the Town Panchayat is the Chairman of the Committee. Thiru.R.JeyaRaj and Executiveofficer are the members of the appointment committee. The committee is responsible for making of appointments for post which falling under the purview of the appointing Committee.
